in this lab we tested our reflexes and the times that each one takes to occur. i learned that neurons and reflex are inner connected when they have reaction in the body to something because the reaction is caused by the brain telling a certain body part to move the the neurons. A reflex is a reaction to an exterior movement that either can be life threatening or just moving your body based on what your surrounding are. Reflexes work by your brain sending signals to your muscle to contract based off either move away or towards an object.
1. Photopupillary Reflex: This reflex is your eyes cornea re flexing to the amount of light being absorbed and taken in so your iris is either contracted or expands, this time is really fast so we used slow motion cam to capture the moment.
2.Knee jerk reflex(patellar reflex): This reflex takes about 50 mili seconds, the reflex we tested was affected on the amount of exhaustion in the muscle connecting to the thigh muscle which will be slower if the muscle is spender on a work out so our reactions to the knee hit was slower after a workout.
3.Blink reflex: In this experiment we threw cotton balls at your face with a piece of surand wrap in front to capture how your eyes react something being tossed at you, this reaction happens fast and is a response to protect your eyes, i think humans have evolved to this because we have to react at fast moving objects as technology improves.
4. Babe, Whats your sign?: in this expeirnemnt we gentle rubbed the end of a pen to the bottom of our feet tosee if either our toes pointed outward or collapsed in. My partener and i toes were collapsed in becasue neither of us have nerve damages in our feet.
5. How fast are you?: In this experiment we tested our reflexes on catching a metric stick and timing it, then testing our reflexes while txting and catching the sticks as the study show that while txting you are slower and reacting and this is because your brain can't multi task and therefore it is lagging your reaction time to the catch.
