Sperm Cell

According to News Medical, The term sperm is derived from the geek word "sperma" meaning seed. The first sperm was observed under a microscope in 1677 by a man named Antonie van Leeuwenhoek who described them as animals or animalcules. The sperm cell is structured to be slender in the middle, mitochondria are thick and ring shaped, and the DNA in the nucleus are condense. The sperm cell compared to a Eukaryotic cell, has different structure but some organelles such as a nucleus, cell membrane and mitochondria are in the sperm cell. The sperm cell contains many mitochondria to help power the flagellum. the purpose of the sperm cell is to fertilize an egg. the sperm cell is classified as a Spermatozoon because sperm cells are apart of the male sex cells which is involved in sexual reproduction.

  1. I like the history part at the beginning and I liked how you made your points, you went into just enough detail. It was interesting to read.
