In this unit we talked about the digestive, endocrine, and lymphatic systems. All these systems have organs and tissues that play vital roles in keeping your body going in daily life, that you may not even realize. Essential understanding for this unit is how each system works and how its organs contribute and there functions. For the digestive system its main function is to brake down and absorb energy from food you eat, with important organs such as the mouth, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, all this is made possible. The Endocrine systems main function is with glands and organs to help metabolism growth and function of cells with important glands such as testes, ovaries, thyroid gland, all this is made possible for the body to endure. Last with the lymphatic system is important function is to help clean out blood vessels and help fight of pathogens for immunity response. With important organs such as the Spleen and thymus. Labs that I found interesting to me was the yarn lab, which was to create your own digestive track from calculations, using yarn, the most interesting part of it was how lon the actual digestive system is. Mine stretched across the entire roof of the class room, and my small intestine wasn't so "small", it was about 4 times my height, another thing that was interesting we did this unit was the digestive system. To see how long and how important it is with absorbing and braking down food is crazy. I had succes in the unit because of how much I can relate metabolism and the strengths of your body has towards different foods you eat and how each meal affects the metabolism. I would like to learn more about the metabolism and how it is parallel with the digest system, and how we can relate that to our health unit. Keeping your body healthy can also lead to a faster metabolism. I wonder if someone with a fast metabolism is at less of a risk of type 2 diabetes? My goals forms last year I've set for myself are being met, I wanted to well on test and quizzes, which hasn't gone well on temp checks, but I feel confident on the unit 5 test. Fingers crossed
